one of the hottest re-design trends is the 'retro' or mid century modern look....from the article,

i happen to live in a house built in the mid 1960s towards the end of the 'retro' era but has some of the best features of that time period...
teals, oranges, yellows, mustardy greens....all conjour up images of the mid century decor...cartoonish geometric shapes and silver christmas trees resonate as examples of the mid century decor...
